Not only that the acting European champion in the division 1 drove to a never endangered overall victory in an amazingly and thrilling finale, he also broke the nearly 10 years old track record at the Estering at the official time practice on Saturday.
The track record for one lap on the Estering was set by another Norwegian driver in October 2000. On that time it was “Mr. Rallycross” himself, Martin Schanche from Drøbak in Norway, who circled the track in 36,93 seconds on an Opel Astra G T16 4×4. Isachsen himself did a little bit better last weekend with a time of 36,628 seconds for one lap. And that was clearly better than 10 years ago. This news was approved on Tuesday by the organising club ACN, cause of the fact that the club wanted to check it double, that no one was to euphoric premature.
Straight after the safe result of the investigation about the track times in the past, Isachsen was phoned by the organisers of the Estering to forward him this good news. In his first statement to this incredible record he was very pleased and happy with this new record. “It is a very good news for me and mainly for my team. This record approves that the work that my team did on the car was absolutely brilliant. For that I have to thank them.” (Sverre Isachsen)
Isachsen said, that this record also shows his affection to the traditional race track in Buxtehude. “There I had my first good results and successes and therefore I always enjoy coming back to Buxtehude. It was also a big goal for me always to break all the track records which were hold by Martin. At least I think after this it is just the track in Sosnova which has a track record by Martin. I’m very proud that I was able to break the old record at the Estering.” (Isachsen)
He also said again that he always loves racing at the Estering and that he will have a lot of fantastic races in the future on this track. “I love the Estering!” – a clear statement for the Estering.
It was a fantastic race weekend on the Estering…
